I have a question about two baby squirrels my brother brought home from work. They are about 4-5 weeks old and their eyes are not open yet. After each feeding, I try stimulating urination but only a few small drops come out after about 2 minutes of gently rubbing. How much should be coming out? Also, they have not pooped yet and I have had them for three days, is there a way to stimulate this as well or do they just poop on their own?
Please help!...ThanksBaby squirrels not urinating enough...please help!?
if their eyes are not open yet they are not 4-5- weeks old, they are less than 2 weeks old
take a washcloth, dampen with real warm water and rub the babies bottoms with it gently, it takes a minute or three but they will go #1 and #2, you must do this several times a day
hope that you have them on a good formula
they make the cutest pets but they do make messes and get into trouble
enjoy %26amp; good luckBaby squirrels not urinating enough...please help!?
If they're still feeding off their mothers milk then there won't be much discharge. If they've been weened, then scruff the back of their neck and if the skin doesn't return promptly, they're dehydrated. Make sure that they haven't been weened too early. Vets see rodents quite often so bring them in if it persist. The vet will know how to treat them.

A squirrel just dropped two of her babies out of a tree in our back yard. Should we help them?
They are squeaking and terrified...so little their eyes are not opened yet and mama or daddy squirrel are not doing anything. Should I do something??A squirrel just dropped two of her babies out of a tree in our back yard. Should we help them?
Get a cardboard box lined with an old towel and place them in it (gently) then call a local vet or animal control - there is probably a rescue place near you that will help the babies out.A squirrel just dropped two of her babies out of a tree in our back yard. Should we help them?
help them. Feed them puppy or kitten milk from a kitten bottle and keep the warm. Also call your fish and game department.
If you touch them the mother or father will have nothing more to do with them and they will die anyway...
it is better to stay away from them so the parent can come and get them if they so wish...
otherwise... if you touch them... you will need to take care of them and you'll feel even worse when they die.
Don't touch them because the smell of a human will stay on the babies and the mom will kill them. She is probebly just trying to teach them how to live with out them.
Some Vets will take the babies and feed them with a bottle. You can do the same thing. I have friends who have raised babies and they were very healthy.
YES! go get them then go to petco and get a bottle and milk
I WOULD CALL ANIMAL CONTROL they can help them . and you should find a box use gloves to put them in.
no, the reason i say this is more than likely their sick and they are dieing of something anyway, and it could be contagious to humans, just leave them be, but if you have little children you may want to call someone like your town police to have them come and get them or your local shelter, like I said, never retrieve from another animals nest there's always a reason.
heck no less sqirrel means more food for us DOOM ON SQUIRRELS

Help i have baby squirrels!!!!?
i found 4 baby squirrels when a tree fell down
what do i do!?
Help i have baby squirrels!!!!?
I would suggest taking them to either your local vet or a wild life office where they will take them and give them to people who are licenced to look after sick or injured wildlife. They might also let you look after them and they would also let you know what you need to do.
Hope this helps. Good Luck

Best to call a local wildlife rehabber. Here is the Audon societies rehabilitation center locator...http://www.tc.umn.edu/%7Edevo0028/contac鈥?/a>I found Baby squirrels.HELP?
I used to find abandoned baby squirrels and chipmunks and mice all the time. (I had a really mean cat). What I did is I got a hamster cage or whatever, and just took care of them. I got some little bottles for feeding baby kittens and some of the milk for them, and I fed them every couple of hours. You can research on Google ';raising baby squirrels'; or something, I'm sure lots would come up. Right now, I have two baby mice from the pet store (saved from being snake food) that are only about two weeks old so I'm giving them Pablum every couple of hours and keeping them as pets. They're doing great.
Best of luck,
Ben
If you found them recently, put them back until dark to see if Mom will return for them.
If not, call you Department of Environmental Conservation, or google Wildlife Rehabilitators for a list of Rehabbers in your area.
Please don't give them anything to eat or drink. If you feed the wrong thing, you will kill them.
Need to contact the DEC and get a number to a wildlife Rehabber in your area. Local vets also should have number. You can try to put the babies in a close basket turned upside down near where you found them. make sure they cannot get out but mom squirrel can get in or tip it over. Then watch from a hidden distance. They will cry when hungry and she should come get them within a hour. She will carry them like cats carry kittens. One at a time. Do not let her see you though. If she does not come bring them in keep warm, feed with a dropper or syringe some Multi milk or Esbilac that get at pet store. Keep them very warm. If they are tiny enough have to stimulate them to go potty after feeding them. But best bet of them surviving is wildlife rehabber or back with mom. Good luck.
my sister found baby squirrels in her attic and we kept one as a pet. it's name was chiggers. i was little and i still remember it. i know they fed it with a bottle but beyond that you'd probably have to google raising baby squirrels. if you're not interested in keeping it as a pet your best bet would be to contact the vet or a wildlife refuge though.
your best bet is to bring them to a wildlife refuge in your area if you have one near by. if not, try bringing them to the vet or calling the vet office and ask them.

Nature also fells trees. Leave them where they fell and the mom will find them by their cries for food. She should not care if you touched them.
Truly I don't think it's sanitary to keep squirrels ya know with the swine flu and all.Just call animal rescue or something.

Help!! Found 4 baby squirrels!?
My mom and dad found four baby squirrels tearing up the roof an hour or two ago..We don't know how old they are(we think they are 4-5 weeks old though) and every person we've called to help won't answer..My mom and dad don't want them in the house because we have no where to put them except for a giant box with many holes for breathing...what do we do?Help!! Found 4 baby squirrels!?
keep them as pets so they can bite off your face.Help!! Found 4 baby squirrels!?
you can't really do anything for them if they lost their parents and if they arnt full grown and still need milk/other source of food and cant get it on thier own then their screwed pretty much
look up how old they have to be till they can be on there own and take them to the park?
my friend had 4 baby racoons and they had a huge cage the size of a shed made out of chicken wire and wood with giant branches in them and when they got older (and aggressive) they took them to a animal rescue place
Even if you cannot get ahold of them tonight, call animal control IMMEDIATELY!!! they will help the baby animals and do not kill them
Dont keep them in your house! a garage or shed or porch would be the closest you should put them to you and your family. I understand they are cute and its sad their mom is gon but they also are imfamous for deadly disease. You should risk your familys health for the comfort of some cute squirells!!! I advise leaving them in the box with an old sheet or t shirt until u can get them to animal control.
get rid of it, it could be full of diseases
buy some pet bottle at the pet store
We also find baby squirrels all the time...and we don't have to time to raise them...sometimes there are squirrel rescue facilities that will take them and raise them....thats what we usually do if we find any of them...so i would look around in the phone book or online for the nearest one to you..good luck
take them to a vet, or animal hospital! they will know what to do
Take them to the woods and turn them loose. They are animals and wild and they will figure out what to do. They are tearing up a roof...so they already know.
We catch ground hogs and turn them loose..even the babies...they survive much better than YOU taking care of them. They are wild and need to be so.
We took in a baby squirrel after seeing her brother being taken away by a hawk. We had her all winter and let her loose the following spring. Here is a good website to look at for information -

Throw them up into the trees. Mommy will find them eventually by their calls.
I know they are very quite, However they are rodents, They also know how to do a lot of damage if they get into the house. Call the Humane Society they should come and take them of your hands.

a squirrel rescue site that has some useful information on it...may point you in the right direction to help em...
You can keep them in the box but you will need a baby bottle to feed them with. Call a conversation officer and he will link you with someone that can help.
Where do you live?
Can you describe them to me? Are their eyes open yet? Are their tails already fluffy?
I am a wildlife rehabber and I rescue squirrels all the time. I have 7 right now actually.
For now, just put them in a box and keep them quiet. Don't try to handle them or anything. If you tell me what state you live in I might be able to find you some help.
DONT try to feed them anything!

HI
First... DO not listen to spatz...... hes way off and you will kill the baby that way.
Everyone else is moslty right... Its Sat not SUN and any VETS or Rescues take call 24/7 VETS have after hours answering services or somebody taking calls...
You must have a wildlife rescue n your area..Florida has a ton of them all over...
Gatorade is a good idea... but dont over do ... Kitten nursing bottles(walmart) may allow him to feed if you can not do a syringe or medicine syringe.. the kitten nurser will have a nipple.
He may have been injured in the fall.....
I would really get on finding an animal rescue center
Yes feeding every 2-3 hours round the clock is good
Keep him warm but not too warm
A squirrels norm body temp is about 98-102F
Normally if it is not a storm that knocks a baby out of the nest its due to lack of space the babies grow... usually if it is not injured mom will come get it back.. if it is she will not
Your baby is a few weeks old I would guess... THey wean at about 75 days or so
Remember when you feed do it slowly and let the baby set the pace... Once you got it down it should take only abot 24 hours to rehydrate... feeding every 2-4 hours .
Once your baby is rehydrated switch to Esbilac .. its a Milk replacement formula for PUPPIES.
Never use human Formulas, or milk as they can kill a squirrel and most other wildlife.
You will need a nursing boittle( kitten) or a couple of syringes.. a 3cc and a 10cc... Your baby is prob old enough for the 10cc.
The basic formula should consist of 1 cup of water, 1/2 cup of powder Esbilac, and 1/2 cup of whipping cream. The cream is added to fortify the formula, and add a little extra incentive to eat. An alternative small batch mixture would be 2-tsp water, 1 tsp Esbilac, and 1 tsp of whipping cream. You'll have less waste with this teaspoon method.
Be sure formula is about 100F but no warmer than 102F.. Hold the baby in your hand and let him set the pace for feeding..
Age 2-3 weeks, feed 5 times a day, start at 1 1/2 cc of formula and increase to 3 cc
Age 4-5 weeks, feed 4 times a day, start at 3 1/2 cc of formula and increase to 5 cc
Age 6-7 weeks, feed 4 times a day, start at 6 cc of formula and increase to 9 cc
At 8 weeks you can begin to ween onto solids.
ALSO NEVER FEED A COLD SQUIRREL. Get them to reg temp first. Keep them warm with warm towels in a warm area of your house.. do NOT use heating pads... water bottles can be used unde a towel but only if you know the temp is not more than 102F.
You should also keep them out of a lot of light.. direct sun for sure.
After feeding, you must make sure the infant can and will relief itself. To stimulate this process use a dampened Q-tip and gentle rub it across the genitals. It is not necessary that you get results each time, but the pattern should be established early.
If you have not been doing this is may explain why heis not drinking or feeling poorly...
Mom would normally lick the baby to stimlulate this... so you have to be mom... Use the q tip ... make sure its moist with warm water.
Now how old is your baby
Pink with no fur, umbilical cord attached is under one week old.
Body hair emerges at ten to twenty one days.
Lower incisors cut at nineteen to twenty one days.
Upper incisors cut at thirty to forty two days.
Eyes begin to open at twenty eight to thirty days.
Ears open, at twenty eight to thirty five days.
Out of the nest for the first time at thirty to forty six days.
Out of the nest alone at fifty four to fifty eight days.
Foraging for food at forty five to fifty one days.
Social skills practice at sixty days.
Can live independently at sixty eight to eighty four days.
If you decide to take this on yourself... and feel you have the time to do this and it weill be time consuming... I wish you luck..
You can trry calling local VETs for wildlife rescues,..also Fish and game department might know...
You should also keep it away from other pets or children...if it is to be released later you do not want it used to Pets or children as it will put it at risk for capture or injury later.
Hope this helps and good luck....
WismomPLEASE HURRY...if you know about baby Squirrels!!!?
LOL I figured your Sat/SUn mistake was due to lack of sleep!
Hope it all works out ok for the both of you...
lucky squirrel you care so much! We need more folks like you!
Thanks for the vote!
Hey.. remember if you work mon and hve to leave him to make sure he is secure and cant get out.. and has a bit of water to drink.
:) Will be hard to leave him alone just yet... but if you have to go you have to.. :)
That is not a easy task, buy some nut ,or peanuts and smashed them( remember it must be raw nuts without salt) , mixed it with diluted milk and try to feed him with a syringe, all the best hope he make it.
My best advice to you is to find a wildlife rescue group in your area and hand the little guy over to them. Please make sure it is not an spca branch or animal control as they will put him down. It needs to be a Wildlife Rescue group. You will lose thise little guy, and although I do realise that you are trying to help him, you are not. Do this as soon as possible to make sure this little guy can survive. Thank you!
Call a local vet about the squirrel, or a place in your city that handles WILD animals! If you have a wild animal refuge in your city take the squirrel there and let them care for it. If you don't know if there is one, call a local vet.
They can tell you what to do. A mother won't come after a baby once it has fallen out of the nest. BE VERY careful about that squirrel. I had a baby bite me and I had to get a tetnus shot and had the squirrel died and they could not have tested it, I would have had to have take rabies shots. Try www.vetinfo.com
Like any wild animals they can carry rabies.
Good Luck
baby squirrels make little baby squirrel noises. when they get bigger they will squeek louder. try asking vets and pet store people for advice on how to raise him and what to feed him. if you go to the pet store they could recommend something and sell you something. squirrels can make good pets. good luck!
I also live in FL and nursed a baby squirrel who fell out of his nest. You are so right to hydrate him. He will drink Gatorade. He will like the sugary flavor and the electrolytes will be good for him. My vet gave me syringes and recommended I feed him puppy formula. I took him to work in a shoebox and fed him every 2 or 3 hours. He'd cry when he was hungry. He became a healthy little squirrel and a nice buddy. He used to sit on my shoulder and buzz in my ear like he was talking to me. See the photos on my 360 of Scruffy. Best of luck to you and your baby squirrel.
I've raised 7 squirrels and currently got two 5 week olds recovered from my friends dog.
I do NOT recommend you keep this baby longer then needed.
I use Propel Mixed Berry for the first 24hours giving 1-3 cc every 2 hours and stimulating them to go pee (poop usually wont come for 12hours or so). You can use the pedialyte too, fruit flavors are best (but with my first set of squirrels they didn't like the pedialyte either..and they all seem to LOVE the Propel Mixed Berry)
Just keep feeding the electrylites until you get the baby to someone that can care for it. If you need to change to formula, use the Esbilac Puppy Milk (I use liquid but many suggest the powder, but I find the powder clogs the bottles I use) but change it gradual adding a little more Esbilac each feeding (1/4, 1/3, 1/2, etc...)

I found a site that said to feed it Esbilac puppy formula, and that all other types of formula will kill it in a few days to a week. Still looking for more info ...
OKAY! Here is a great site with lots of info. It says you can use Ensure at first, and then transition to the puppy formula. Please take a look, this one looks great!

My friend raised 2 baby squrrels. One of them unfortnately died due to a concusion from falling but the other one is still alive. She let him go when he got older. Anyway, You should probably call your vet or a nature center.
If you put it back at the base of the tree quickly enough and stand back the mom will come and get it. They aren't as fussy as some other animals about human scent. Make sure no cats or large birds beat her to him. If she doesn't get him within an hour or two you've got a squirrel to raise without the knowledge on how to raise him and will most likely (sorry, I know you mean well) cause his death if you don't get him to a qualified person. You must be a licensed wildlife rehabilitator to raise a baby squirrel http://www.orphanedwildlifecare.com/ http://www.squirrel-rehab.org/
Aww.. I always wanted a squirrel. They are cute and fuzzy and are my favorite animals. What part of Florida do you live in? But, I would jst keep on giving him the water, an then when he is not weak, and when he is jumpy and hyper, take him poutside, and let him go
let it go now you interfered with nature !
really nice to try and rescue---depending on it's age, do you have vet # you can call to get help? have you tried to lay it back where it fell out to see if mother will rescue it? wish i could help more--used to live in Fl on farm--kid's always found rescue critters--some did make it
HI

Good Luck
